All carriers and the iPhone models 12, 13, 14, and SE 3 are compatible with 5G wireless service. Apple sets a 5G Auto Setting as the default on the iPhone. Thus, Smart Data mode is enabled. Your phone will automatically switch to LTE when 5G speeds don’t offer a better experience, conserving battery life.
Your battery life may be suffering if your phone is set to 5G On rather than 5G Auto. This is due to the fact that your iPhone always tries to connect to 5G, regardless of what connection is best.
Here’s how to disable 5G to maximize battery life:
Goto Settings.
Select Cellular.
Then select Cellular Data Options.
Select Voice & Data.
Tap LTE to turn off 5G for more battery life.
Alternately, let your iPhone make the choice to save battery life:
Goto Settings.
Select Cellular.
Then select Cellular Data Options.
Select Data Mode.
When you wish to extend the life of your battery, select Low Data Mode.
